Dr. Michio Hirano is the Lucy G. Moses Professor of Neurology and Chief of the Neuromuscular Medicine Division at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). After completing his neurology residency at CUMC, he did a neuromuscular genetics fellowship under Professors Billi DiMauro and Eric Schon. Dr. Hirano’s group conducts laboratory studies and clinical trials of neuromuscular diseases with a focus on mitochondrial disorders.
